Biography

Ivan Touko is a Cameroonian-Canadian artist, bilingual cultural facilitator, DJ, and community builder. He connects movement, music, intercultural learning, and participation in school and community settings. He is the producer of The Rise of Afrobeats In The Prairies and a co-founder of La Connexional and FALAC.ORG.

Students do not need to arrive confident. They need a way in.

Ivan uses rhythm, clear cues, cultural context, humour, and adaptable movement to help a group participate without turning the room into an audition. The goal is not perfect choreography. It is attentive, shared participation.

Groove Culture is shaped by Ubuntu, “I am because we are.” Shared rhythm becomes a practical way for students to notice one another, respond, and create a collective moment.
